Steve Hackett & Steve Rothery - The Roaring Waves
Renowned guitarists Steve Hackett and Steve Rothery are pleased to present their long-awaited joint album »The Roaring Waves«. Seven instrumental pieces that range from skilfully absurd to brilliantly sublime, but all have a common theme: the depth of the sea. Rothery explains: "In winter, in stormy weather, you could hear the sound of the waves. Whitby was a very inspiring place to live, a very poetic and powerful place to grow up. I think this album is a way to express some of those memories and emotions about what the sea meant to me."
»The Roaring Waves« was created over a period of almost eight years, although the original idea of recording an album together had already been born three years earlier. However, due to their respective day jobs and tour schedules, they were unable to work together for months. However, the recording sessions at the Racket Club and in their respective home studios brought out a wealth of creativity. "Our approach was a bit old school, like the idea of friends getting together in the garage to play and hang out together," Hackett says of her approach to creativity.
Currently, it is a single album, as neither of the two guitarists can find time for live performances, let alone think about recording another album together. As the tides come and go, all faces gaze at the empty horizon, waiting for a final ship to be brought ashore to finally return home.
»The Roaring Waves« will be available as a limited CD & Blu-ray Mediabook featuring Dolby Atmos mixes by Andy Bradfield, as well as a gatefold 180g LP & LP booklet mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios with half-speed mastering. The album will also be available as a standard CD jewel case.
